Mwenge, Nyabuharwa subcouty is a remote place in the western part of Uganda which consists of the following village kinyantale, muhangi, mirongo, kyakashyoro, rwabaganda, kigando. These are the unreached and un heard places in the out skirts of western Uganda. Interventions have been not developed to reduce the burden of extreme poverty and poor standards of living in these communities and most of the people, young girls, women, people living with disabilities and innocent young boys have been left be hide to suffer with no hopes of being what they want in life.
Due to extreme poverty, families face a lot of problems in up bringing their children such as poor access of health facilities where they walk long distances to reach health facilities. Research shows that 100 of women who give birth in one month, 70% give birth from their home 20% try reach health facilities but don’t make it, road side their fore are used and 10% reach health centers. This leads to increased maternal death. Young girls face a lot of sexual reproductive health issues as there is increased stigmatization caused by parents and fellow community people since the community is not aware of the SHRH and education.
There is increased cases of jiggers in young children and adults caused by improper sanitation and housing facilities hence many people go barefooted to different dirty places.
The problem of increased pregnancies among young girls hence they are forced by their parents so that that they can earn a living and struggle to educate their fellow siblings
Most of young people are not educated and are out of school as most of them can’t afford education due to poverty and luck of schools in these area’s.
Together as The Change Society Needs and Hope Leads Uganda, we anticipate to use the donations to carry out the Youth Care Camp so that we can help young people in this community to have hope through equipping young girls with skills on how to make re-usable sanitary pads, Teach them about menstrual hygiene and give the girls with knowledge on menstrual health, Carry out SHRH education (family planning awareness) and we also anticipate to make local shoes we can donate to them and also wash and remove jiggers from them hence spraying their homes and other breeding places.
