Luang Gai Thoan is 25 years old. He was forced to flee his home in Leer, South Sudan, in 2013 when the war broke out, and became a refugee in Northern Uganda with his mother and siblings. After being ill with fever, weight loss and general weakness, he was diagnosed hepatitis B. Thanks to his elder brother's help, he moved to Juba and then to Khartoum, were he was prescribed treatment for hepatitis B for 12 months. Medical expenses for medicines and checkups are very high, and his brother is unable to afford the entire cost of the treatment.
