BULHALHO Foundation (BUF), we seek support for the completion constructing a Vocational Training Center in the village of Kyabwiire zone ,Nyakitokoli Parish Karangura sub county Burahya county Kabarole District in Western Uganda. This Center would offer great opportunities for local youths to acquire skills for future jobs in an area where unemployment rates as well as poverty levels are exceedingly high. BUF has been pivotal in community empowerment initiatives for several years and has a track record of facilitating skills trainings for young locals, especially young women and other disadvantaged groups, including people with special needs.

The overall goal of BUF is to improve the living conditions of the people in hard to reach communities in the Rwenzori Region and enable them to play a more decisive role in their own development. We are thus addressing the crucial question of how local communities can be agents of their own change. To increase local participation, we have developed community sensitization and mobilization strategies, coupled with tailor-made capacity building – in particular skills training courses.

So far, our trainings have taken place in mobile facilities, for example in local enterprises which offered their premises for temporary training courses. It would be ideal, however, to have a permanent Training Center where skills building workshops could take place on a much more regular basis. Such a Center would also offer space to extend and store the ample range of training equipment which we have already got – like sewing and knitting machines, hairdressers’ kits, electric drills, carpentry tools,Shoe making Kits plumbing and agricultural equipment, to name just a few.
