Due to the ongoing global pandemic, Uganda's schools have been closed, leaving 15 million children without access to teachers, libraries, or online learning and friends. Children, especially from vulnerable rural communities, are in complete isolation in terms of continuous learning which now requires internet, televisions, and radio sets which most families in these communities do not have. Therefore, this had an effect on the wellbeing of children and also may cause a risk in terms of discouragement of children to keep learning which will eventually lead to increased learning inequality gaps and a high school drop rate in Uganda.
As enjuba, our goal is to get books to children so that they can fall in love with reading and eventually READ to LEARN. During this global pandemic, children need friends and encouragement, and a book can be that "friend."
It is because of this reason that enjuba is fundraising 20,000 books for children in 20 vulnerable rural communities in the 4 regions of Uganda so that they can have a "friend" that will encourage them to keep reading and learning through this pandemic. You can help us to get a book to a child at just UGX 10,000.
