Girls Unstoppable Uganda (GU) Ltd (www.girlsunstoppableug.org) is a company limited by guarantee (without shares), registered in Uganda with No. 80020000016645. It was established in and registered in December 2016 to support the educational needs of marginalized adolescent girls in secondary school by providing them with scholarships that support them to attain secondary education, skills, and knowledge.
Our beneficiaries are characteristically bright hardworking girls in secondary school, from across the country who face diverse vulnerabilities but have big dreams for their lives and communities. These girls would not otherwise be able to go to school and receive the education they need and deserve without the support of GU. Our beneficiaries are unique because they engage in 40hours of voluntary service in their community as a way of giving back and cultivating the character of selflessness. GU has so far given out 8 scholarships and intends to give an additional 4 scholarships to marginalized adolescent girls every year. In 2028, GU aims to have sponsored 42 girls.
The funds that run this scholarship fund are entirely from donations from GU Founders, partners, and one time donors that respond to our occasional fundraising. As a result, the number of scholarships given out is limited by the availability of funds for this program. This is equally not sustainable.
GU is embarking on a Safe Hands SanitKits project to generate revenue to sustain the scholarship fund. The Safe Hands Sanitkits project will manufacture and supply personal low-cost SanitKits (a 2-in-1 pack of alcohol-based hand sanitizer and liquid hand wash), that increase all-time accessibility to products required to observe the 5 moments of hand hygiene.
This project aims to produce at least 2,000 packets of SanitKits every month and sell at least 60% of the available stock every month. It will utilize free labor from volunteers and partners of GU who have already confirmed participation. 40% of the monthly profits will be used for the GU scholarship fund, while the 50% of the monthly profits will be plowed back into the business to facilitate a projected business growth of 10% every 3 months. Cumulatively over the 1st year of successful business implementation, GU will raise at least 30M UGX in funds for the scholarship fund, sufficient to pay school fees for 8 students a year.
GU has already secured 73% of the funding requirement towards this project and is appealing to the generous hearts of donors to help us raise the remaining 27% revenue required for successful project rollout.
We believe that the education that these girls receive will not only benefit them, but it will also go on to change communities and our nation, as they will be the catalysts of the change we need. We are rallying behind them, supporting their dreams for communities and we ask you to come alongside us in making many girls unstoppable by supporting Girls Unstoppable Uganda’s Safe Hands SanitKits project.
We appeal to you to donate today.
We thank you for your generosity.
