Students of St kizito Nabutaka primary school is one of the low performing Schools in Luwero district. Steps have been taken to improve performance of pupils including providing accommodation of the staff. However the students and teachers do not have adequate sanitation facilities,often falling sick from preventable illness as a result of sharing these facilities that are now in avery bad shape.
Despite the continued pleas by teachers and students for support to the relevant stakeholders, the nearly full and collapsing pit latrine which has been in use for over 20 years has not been repaired or replaced an now poses a great danger to its users. Teachers and students have now resorted to walking over 200 metres away in search for a pit latrine in fear of harm that may come to them from this nearly collapsing one. The gaping holes of these dilapidated pit as seen in the cover photo are in very poor condition and is an immediate danger to the users of this facility. Besides the continued use of this facility is against all the known primary health care guidelines for hygiene and sanitation. The school also reduced 40%of the enrollment in 2019 to neighbouring schools with these facilities. Worst of it students enter to use it without wearing shoes since the school is in a rural community.
