Tamale Bonny Deo
DOB: 16.12.1980 in Virika Fort Portal
Born to Mr and Mrs Kiggundu of Kazo - Kawempe Division
1988 - 1994: Primary School - Scored Aggregate 4 and was best pupil in Kawempe division
1995 - 1998: Ordinary Level School - NTARE SCHOOL MBARARA was among the best students
1999 - 2000: Higher School Certificate (HSC) - Makerere College School.
2001 - 2003: Kyambogo University - Ordinary Diploma in Electrical engineering
Worked in Kampala until 2009 when a friend invited me to South Africa for greener pastures; I was told there were very many jobs for technical people in the Rainbow nation
On arrival in Johannesburg SA, the person who was supposed to pick me up went AWOL for at least six hours, later she sent me another to pick me up.
The man told me that there were no white collar jobs for Ugandans in SA, he added that the available work was for SANGOMAs - Traditional Doctors;
Since I did not know how it was done, I worked largely as a helper for my boss - The Sangoma; handing out leaflets to visiting patients. The promise was that when the money accumulated we would share, unfortunately, that did not materialise. I got frustrated and left the job;
Next I became a street boy/man in Johannesburg;
On the street, I learnt how distribute n smoke drugs (cocaine), by the end of two years, the long arm of the law had caught up with me and I was put in jail.
My sentence and jail term helped me because I was put in rehabilitation, I was fully detoxified by the time I left jail.
By this time, I was craving to get back home and mainly meet my son who was only six months old by the time I left. Fortunately, my family had known that I had been jailed, and after my jail time, they put resources together, bought n sent me an air ticket back home.
On returning home, a lot had changed, life had left me long time; my friends were all married, gotten employed, gotten bigger circles ... I had lagged behind;
To date, I have been doing small jobs with electrical and solar firms but life is not properly adding up.
Last year (2021), I was advised by an OB to go back to school n do my bachelor's degree, fortunately, I was admitted at Kyambogo University for a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, he (my OB) hoped that we would get support from friends, OBs and well-wishers.
And here we are, properly admitted but short on funds to complete the course.
My humble request is to you the reader to support me in this endeavour.
The total cost for Semester one is 2,322,000 n semester 2 is UGX 1,600,000.
So the total for Year one UGX 3,922,000
