GIVE THEM A HOME, RESTORE THEIR DIGNITY Hello Friends, My name is Sylvia from Uganda. Hope you are doing well. It's been a tough season but thank God it's ending and we are standing strong. I believe we shall see the goodness of God in this land of the living.
For over 17 years, my family has been struggling due to land conflicts and matters have been in court for this long.
However, last year, my parents finally lost everything they ever worked for in their youth, through unfair forceful eviction which involved maliciously breaking down of our house and destroying all valuables thereby rendering my family homeless. All their establishments gone.
My parents had already retired from their work and had set up businesses and rentals from which to earn a living. My mom was running a small restaurant known as Plyplus but all this was destroyed in one day. This day was very devastating. My family was left in an empty space with nowhere to go. Since I had rented a small place of my own by the time all this happened, I had to bring them to stay with me; My parents, 3 sisters, a nephew and a niece.

For over a year I have been the bread winner at home. I have been responsible for literally everything hoping and praying that justice comes quickly and perhaps with the compensation things would get better. It is quite a great experience having to take care of my parents and it feels like the best gift I can ever give to them in this life time, especially in desperate moments like these. However, my parents actually need their own home now. I see them every day praying to have their dignity restored.
They feel like they are inconviniencing me, the fact that I am at that age where I am supposed to be starting my own family and do my personal things, yet here I am watching over them like they are my children. Their concerns breaks my heart every time and I just wish I could do something to ease their pain.

It hurts that Justice has taken too long but I believe it will come sooner or later. For this reason I am seeking your support to fulfill my parents' desire and prayer to have their own home again. I need about UGX 20 million to construct a small descent house for them on a piece of land which I purchased two years ago and I believe that whatever amount you donate out of your kindness will help to make a difference in their lives and I will be able with your help to answer their prayer and restore their dignity .

Thank you so much for your generosity.

  • Hi Friends, I would like to thank all of you who have directly donated funds to me through mobile money and western union and those who have directly pledged to support me. I am so grateful for your kindness which has really encouraged me to move forward with this project. To date, I have received approximately $ 486 (UGX 1.8m) and I managed to pay for all the Iron sheets required. I also have started clearing the land in preparation and I believe that with your continued support, together we will put a roof over my parent's heads and restore there dignity as well. Thank you so much again.
    Sylvia.
