Despite immense conservation efforts to save them, all four great ape species (gorilla, chimpanzee, bonobo & orangutan) are endangered.

And now they’re facing an unprecedented new threat: COVID-19. Not only are species like gorillas and chimpanzees at heightened risk of infection, but the fragile conservation projects on which they depend have been devastated by national lockdowns.

Eco-tourism has vanished overnight, and at projects like Ngamba Island Chimpanzee Sanctuary in Uganda, it’s a fight for survival. With exclusive footage from Ngamba Island under lockdown and an interview with chimpanzee expert Peter Apell from the Jane Goodall Institute Uganda, our latest video reveals how COVID-19 is putting the lives of our closest relatives in danger.

Now more than ever, conservation projects like Ngamba Island need your help. Please consider giving them your Monthly support and follow this link to find out more: https://dolphinfund.org/
